A book by Bereket Simon, head of the Government Communications Affairs Office (GCAO) under a ministerial portfolio, titled “A Tale of Two Elections” is to be launched on Tuesday, December 20, 2011. The book is a comparison of the 2005 and 2010 elections.
A key figure in the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF), Bereket was a relevant personality in both elections, with ample influence in the state media-first, as the minister of Information and, now, as the chief of GCAO.
He initially had plans to write the book after the 2005 election, the third election after the EPRDF came to power, according to excerpts from the book. The time between the third election and the fourth election in 2010 passed by so quickly that it now presented him with an opportunity to compare and contrast the two elections, he stated in the book.
Although the book mainly discusses the elections, it goes back and investigates the EPRDF’s transformation after the Ethio-Eritrean conflict, the excerpt promises.
