10 Million Birr Financial Support Given to Political Parties

The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) said it has made financial assistance to political parties, which have seats in federal and regional parliaments.

Public Relations and Coordination Head with NEBE, Yeshi Fekade told ENA over the weekend that the Board has provided a 10 million Birr financial support to the political parties in 2004 EC for doing their day-to-day activities.

Yeshi said the board provided the money to the political parties from government budget in accordance with the amended proclamation on the registration of political parties.

The money was provided to 10 political parties, she said, adding, the amount of money which each party gets depends on the number of seats each party has in the parliaments.

The money was deposited in the bank accounts of the respective parties.

The financial support is aimed at helping the political parties to develop the awareness of the public in politics and introduce the aims of their respective political parties to the public thereby enhance the active participation of the public in political activities.

EPRDF, the Somali People Democratic Party, the Benishangul-Gumuz People Democratic Party, the Afar National Democratic Party and the Gambella Peoples Unity Democratic Movement are included among the parties which received the finacial assistance.

According to ENA, the Harari National League, the Argoba People Democratic Organization, Forum for Demiocratic Dialogue in Ethiopia-Medrek, the Coalition for Unity and Democracy and the All Ethiopian Unity Organization are also included.

According to Yeshi, 10 million Birr financial support was also provided to political parties in 2003 EC.

የ24 ዓመቷ ፀዳለች አስረስ ለቤተሰቦቿ 12ተኛ ልጅ ስትሆን ከአሁኑ ባለቤቷ ጋር የምትታወቀው ገና ከልጅነቷ ጊዜ ጀምሮ ነበር፡፡ ፀዳለችና የ26 ዓመቱ መሰለ ግርማ የአንደኛና ሁለተኛ ደረጃ ትምህርታቸውን እዛው ቡሬ አብረው የተማሩ ሲሆን ሁለቱም ዩኒቨርስቲ የሚያስገባ ነጥብ በማምጣታቸው ፀዳለች አምቦ ዩኒቨርስቲ ስትገባ መሰለ ጅማ ዩኒቨርስቲ ተመደበ፡፡ መለያየታቸው ያላስደሰተው መሰለ፤ ባቀረበው ሃሳብም ፀዳለች እንደምንም ብላ እሱ ወዳለበት ዩኒቨርስቲ እንደተቀየረች ትናገራለች፡፡

የዩኒቨርስቲ ትምህርታቸውን አንድ ላይ መከታተል ከጀመሩ በኋላ ግን ፀዳለች ውጥረት ውስጥ እንደገባች ታስታውሳለች፡፡ ከሌሎች ተማሪዎች ጋር የነበራትን ቀረቤታና ግንኙነት ያልወደደው ፍቅረኛዋ፤ ክፉኛ ይጨቀጭቃትና ያስጠነቅቃት እንደነበር ፀዳለች ተናግራለች፡፡የዩኒቨርስቲ ትምህርታቸውን በ2001 ዓ.ም የጨረሱት ሁለቱ ወጣቶች በዳሸን ባንክ የተለያዩ ቅርንጫፎች ሥራ የተቀጠሩ ሲሆን ወዲያው ትዳር መስርተው ሴት ልጅ ወልደዋል፡፡ ትዳር ከመሰረቱ በኋላ ጭቅጭቁና ማስፈራሪያው መባባሱን የገለፀችው ወጣቷ፤ የምለብሰውን ልብስ የሚመርጠው እንኳን እሱ ነበር – ትላለች፡፡ ወደ ስራ ስትሄድም መተጣጠብና መቀባባት እንደማይፈቅድላት እንዲሁም ፀጉሯን እንደነገሩ እንድታስይዝ ብቻ እንደሚያስገድዳት ተናግራለች፡፡ ፀዳለች በጐፋ ዳሸን ባንክ፣ ባለቤቷ መሰለ ደግሞ በቄራ ዳሸን ባንክ ቅርንጫፍ መ/ቤቶች እንደሚሰሩ የተናገረችው ወጣቷ፤ መ/ቤት ስትሄድ የምትለብሳቸውን ልብሶች በተመለከተ “አለባበስሽን አስተካክይ” የሚል ተደጋጋሚ ማስጠንቀቂያና ማስፈራሪያ ይሰጣት እንደነበር ጠቁማለች፡፡ “አንቺ ብትለይኝ የእህትና የወንድሞችሽን ልጆች ት/ቤታቸው ሄጄ እገድላለሁ፤ አይንሽን ጐልጉዬ አወጣለሁ” በሚል ዘወትር ያስፈራራት እንደነበርም ፀዳለች ተናግራለች፡፡ በየወሩ የምታገኘውን ደሞዝ አንድም ሳታስቀር ለባሏ ታስረክብ የነበረችው ወጣቷ፤ የትራንስፖርት ብቻ ቆርጦ ይሰጠኝ ነበር ብላለች፡፡ የቤት አስቤዛ ሸምታ እንደማታውቅ ገልፃ፤ ሸመታውን የሚያከናውነው ባለቤቷ እንደነበር ተናግራለች፡፡

የዘወትር ፀባቸው መነሻ ቅናት እንደነበር የምትናገረው ፀዳለች፤ ሞባይል ቢኖረኝም ከእሱ ስልክ ውጪ ማንሳትም ሆነ መደወል እንደትችል ገልፃለች፡፡ በምትሰራበት የዳሸን ባንክ ጐዳ ቅርንጫፍ በየወሩ የስራ ልውውጥ እንደሚደረግ የምትናገረው ፀዳለች፤ ጥር 28 ቀን 2004 ዓ.ም ከቀድሞው ዳታ ወደ ኮምፒውተር የማስገባት ሥራዋ ተቀይራ ካውንተር ላይ በቴለርነት እንድትሰራ ከአለቃዋ ትዕዛዝ እንደደረሳት ጠቁማ ጉዳዩን ለባለቤቷ ስታማክረው ግን መብሸቁን ገልፃለች፡፡ “በመስታወት ውስጥ ሆነሽ ለመታየት ነው“ በሚል የቅናት ስሜት ተቃውሞውን በመግለጽ ካውንተር ላይ አልሰራም ብላ ለአለቆቿ እንድትነግራቸው ከፍተኛ ማስጠንቀቂያ ሰጣት፡፡በነጋታው ከስራ ወጥታ አስራ አንድ ሰዓት ተኩል ገደማ ቤቷ የደረሰችው ፀዳለች፤ መጀመሪያ ያገኘችው ባለቤቷን ነበር፡፡ የሁለት አመት ልጃቸውን አቅፎ የነበረው መሰለ፤ ልጁን ለሠራተኛው ይሰጥና ልጅቷን እንደያዘች አቮካዶ ገዝታ እንድትመጣ ሠራተኛዋን ያዛታል፡፡ የቤት ሠራተኛዋም ህፃኗን አቅፋ ትወጣለች፡፡ ሠራተኛዋ እግሯ እንደወጣ መሰለ ለሚስቱ ጥያቄ ያቀርባል “ያልኩሽን ለአለቃሽ ነገርሽ? ፀዳለችም፤ “ዋናው አለቃዬ ባለጉዳይ ስለበዛበት ለምክትሉ ነግሬው በተመደብሽበት ቦታ መስራት አለብሽ ብሎኛል” በማለት መልስ ሰጠች፡፡ ባለቤቷም በቁጣ ስሜት “እንዴት በዛሬ ቀን ባለጉዳይ በዛ!” ይልና በቦክስ ይላታል፡፡ የተለመደው ድብደባ ነው ብላ አስባ ነበር፡፡ ድብደባው እያየለ ሲመጣ ግን ከወትሮው የከፋ መሆኑን ተገነዘብኩ ትላለች፡፡ በሰነዘረባት ተደጋጋሚ ቦክሱ አይኖቿ እንዳበጡ የምትናገረው ወጣቷ፤ ስለት ይዞ እንደተጠጋት ገልፃለች፡፡ ራሷን ለመከላከል መታገል ጀመረች፡፡ የሷ ትግል ግን ባለቤቷ ያሰበውን ከመፈፀም አላገደውም፡፡ ጡቷንና እጇን ከነከሳትና ደጋግሞ በቦክስ ከመታት በኋላ አይኗን በስለቱ ወግቷታል፡፡ በደረሰባት ጥቃት ብዙ ደም እንደፈሰሳት የገለፀችው ፀዳለች፤ ራሷን ስታ እንደነበርና የነቃችው በላንድማርክ ሆስፒታል ውስጥ እንደሆነ ትናገራለች፡፡ ባሏ ጉዳቱን ካደረሰ በኋላ የሞተች መስሎት ጥሏት ጠፍቷል፡፡ እስከትላንት ድረስም አልተያዘም ብላለች – ተጐጂዋ፡፡ በተሰነዘረባት ተደጋጋሚ ቦክስ የአፍንጫዋ አጥንት በመሰበሩ ከፍተኛ ደም በአፍና በአፍንጫዋ እየፈሰሰ ሲሆን የህክምና ባለሙያዎች ሊረዷት እንዳልቻሉ ተናግራለች፡፡

ዓይኗ ከፍተኛ እብጠት ስላለው ሃኪሞች የጉዳት መጠኑን ለማወቅ እንዳልቻሉም ጠቁማ፤ ከአንድ ሳምንት በኋላ እንድትመለስ ተነግሯት ወደ ቤቷ መመለሷን ገልፃለች፡፡ በወንድሟ ቤት ተኝታ ጉዳትዋን ስታስታምም የቆየችው ፀዳለች፤ በአፍንጫዋ የሚፈሰው ደም ባለመቆሙ ትላንት ገርጂ ወደሚገኘው ካዲስኮ ጠቅላላ ሆስፒታል መወሰዷን ቤተሰቦቿ ለአዲስ አድማስ ገልፀዋል፡፡ በአሁኑ ሰዓት የተጐጂዋ ሁለቱም ዓይኖች ማየት እንደማይችሉ ታውቋል፡፡ “ነጭ ነገር ብቻ ነው የሚታየኝ” ብላለች – ፀዳለች፡፡

Andualem was beaten Up.

Yesterday, around noon time, I received information that Andualem was beaten up by an inmate in his prison cell by an inmate day before yesterday and that someone should come to the prison and see him. I phoned his brother and his lawyers to ask them if they could
visit him in the afternoon. They could not go to the prison in the afternoon because the visit hours were only in the mornings.

They could see him today and came to UDJ office to report what they found out. First of all about Andualem’s condition. Andualem, who is usually emotionally and spiritually strong, was down. He was depressed and was weeping when he met his brother and his lawyers. He complained of headache. A small bruise can be seen on his face on the right side below his eye. He expressed that he has fear that “they” want to kill him. No medical care has been given to Andualem so far.

Background: Andulem is in a prison cell for 14 people in the so called maximum security zone (Zone 3) with people such as Ato Bekele Gerba of OFDM and Olbana Lelisa of OPC and Dr. Tilahun Fantahun. The cell does not have windows.

About a month ago a prisoner named Ibas Asfaw was added to Andualem’s cell. Ibas has been in prison for 16 years and was once sentenced to death because of murder. His sentence was latter changed to life imprisonment. It is said that he has transmittable illness. Ibas is
provocative, insulting and quarrelsome. He takes away food from his cell inmates by force and gives it away to others. He is frequent visitor to the office of prison administration and is said that he is in friendly relations with the authorities there.

Ibas started insulting Andualem since the 13th of February. He took away papers Andualem was using to writ his defense case for the court in two weeks. No one knows where he took the papers. On the 14th, Ibas comes to the cell at around 13 hours with another prisoner
from outside the cell and closes the door and asks Bekele and Dr. Tilahun, who were resting, telling them to get out of the room because they have something secret to talk with Andualem. The two refused to get out. Ibas then went directly to Andualem and kicked him on the left side of his head. Andualem fall down. Ibas boxed Andualem three times while he lay unconscious on the cement floor. Bekele was trying to push away Ibas while Dr. Tilahun called the guards. The guards took Ibas away.

It is rumored that he was taken to the prison administration office and received more than Bir 2,300 and taken to another cell in zone 1. It is said that he receives money since 2005 because he was injured during the shooting in prison when many prisoners are said to have
been killed.

To the questions of the lawyers the prison authorities said that they can allocate prisoners in any cell they want, that this is administrative matter, they will deal with Ibas administratively, they can get Andualem’s papers from Ibas and Andualem can forward appeal and accusation to the prison administration if he wants to. The prison administration did not take the matter seriously.

Conclusion: We suspect that the placing of Ibas in Andualem’s cell is deliberate and that it was an indirect way of torturing Andualem, humiliate him and have him morally, psychologically and physically broken down, as has been done to Burtukan Mideksa.

The Executive Committee of UDJ will discuss on the matter tomorrow and will decide what action it would take. In the mean time I appeal to all friends to forward this information to all defenders of the Human Rights to condemn what happened to Andualem and demand that he gets medical attention as soon as possible.

A picture of a nude Ethiopian woman caused a storm after it was posted to Facebook by an Israeli photojournalist and documentarian.
Disgusted viewers posted remarks slamming the photographer, Ziv Koren, accusing him of taking advantage of the woman – a new immigrant – who pictured bathing in a mikve at a Jewish agency camp. Internet surfers questioned whether the photographer asked the woman for permission to take and publish the photo, and said the authenticity of any consent would be questionable, given her vulnerable status at the time it was taken.
“That woman probably doesn’t know Hebrew, and whoever translated surely didn’t explain that it was artistic photography and that she should feel free to refuse,” wrote one Internet surfer, adding that “it must be understood what’s going on with the Falashmura [immigrants], they are passed on the message in simplistic words or hints, that if they refuse to participate in the religious ceremonies they won’t be accepted to make aliyah to Israel.”
The photo was taken in 2006 as part of a documentary project on Falashmura immigrants. Some of the photos from Koren’s collection appeared in an exhibition put on by the Jewish Agency.
In response to the uproar on Facebook, Koren – who claimed to receive threats and demands to remove the photo – took the picture off the Internet on Tuesday morning. He said he took the photo down not as a result of pressure, but out of concern for the safety of the photographed woman.
“All the furious reactions and threats don’t frighten me,” Koren told Haaretz. “I took the photo down after I understood that it could harm the woman. Let’s put everything into proportion, we live in a democratic country, where you can morally assess these things more than once. This whole thing kind of went out of control. I’m a documentarian whose whole life revolves around things that are on the edge.”
Koren added that he is willing to do everything for his journalistic integrity, and that since his subject matter is risqué and can appear provocative to some but not to others, he is not willing to apologize for it.
The Jewish Agency harshly condemned the “invasion of privacy” that resulted from the photo being taken and posted online. “Respect for human beings is more important than any piece of art or documentation,” said the agency, explaining that Koren went to Ethiopia in 2006 to document the immigration of a family to Israel. While he holds the exclusive rights to his pictures, some were donated to the Jewish Agency for an exhibition of some 40 photos that assisted in fundraising for the absorption of Ethiopian immigrants to Israel, the organization added.
“Needless to say, none of the pictures from the mikveh were developed nor displayed at the exhibition,” said the Jewish Agency, adding that it is important to note the organization only became responsible for the management of the camp, including the mikveh, in 2011. “At the time the photos were taken, the Jewish Agency was not responsible for the operations of the complex,” it said.
Rabbi Waldman, who is responsible for the field of Judaism at the complex, said he would not have allowed a photographer into the mikveh whilst there is a man or woman inside.

የተከበሩት የሲቪል ሰርቪስ ሚኒስትር ጁነዲን ሳዶ አንድ ከባድ ችግር ገጥሞአቸዋል። ለማውራት እንኳ ይቀፋል። ግን ምን ይደረግ? ማን እየመራን እንዳለ ማወቅ ስለሚገባ መናገር አለብኝ። ሚኒስትሩ የፈፀሙት፣ ታዋቂው አክተር ሸዋዚንገር በሚስቱ ላይ ከፈፀመው ስለሚብስ፣ የሸዋዚንገርን ደግሞ በሜድያ ስለሰማን፣ ይህንንም የኛን ጉድ ልነግራችሁ ተገድጃለሁ። ደግሞም የተከበሩት ሚኒስትር ጁነዲን ሳዶ ምርጫ ካጭበረበሩ ወሮበሎች አንዱ በመሆናቸው ልናዝንላቸው አይገባም።
የሆነው ሆኖ ነገሩ እንዲህ ነው…
ከጥቂት ሳምንታት በፊት የተከበሩት ሚኒስትር ጁነዲን ሳዶ ሚስታቸው በሰላም ወለደች። በውነቱ አስደሳች ዜና ነበር።
የሚስታቸው ታናሽ እህት ደግሞ አራስ እህቷን ለመርዳት ሻንጣዋን ይዛ ከሚኒስትሩ ቤት ገባች። የተወለደችው ህፃን አንድ ሳምንት እንደሆናት፣ እኒህ ከፍተኛ የኢህአዴግ ባለስልጣን አንድ ያልተጠበቀ አስደንጋጭ ድርጊት ፈፀሙ።
እኩለ ሌሊት ላይ ወደ ሚስታቸው እህት የመኝታ ክፍል በመግባት አፏን አፍነው፣ ክብረ ንፅህናዋን ደፈሯት። ፈፅመው ሲያበቁም ለቀቋት። የመሰላቸው የሚስታቸው እህት “ውርደቷን ተሸክማ ፀጥ ትላላች” የሚል ነበር።
ሳይሆን ቀረ። እሪታዋን አቀለጠችው።
አራሷ ደንግጣ ከአልጋዋ ተነሳች። ታላቅ ግርግር ተፈጠረ። በመጨረሻ በተፈጠረው አለመግባባት አራሷ ህፃን ልጇንና እህቷን ይዛ ከቤት ወጣች። ሚኒስትሩ በተመቸው መኖሪያ ቤቱ ውስጥ፣ ከነምቾቱ ቀረ። የከሰሰውም የነካውም የለም። ስልጣኑን፣ ቤቱንና ንብረቱን እንደያዘ ቀጠለ።
አራሷ ይህ ጥቃት የተፈፀመባት በወለደች ልክ በአስራሶስተኛው ቀን ነበር። እነሆ! የኢህአዴጉ ከፍተኛ ባለስልጣን ከነ ክብሩ በስልጣኑ ላይ አለ። ሚስቱም ከነ ውርደቷ ተወርውራለች። ይህ ሁኔታ ለመለስ ዜናዊ ሪፖርት ተደርጎለታል። ጉዳዩ ወደ አደባባይ እንዳይወጣም መለስ ዜናዊ መመሪያ ሰጥቶበታል።
እስኪ የህግ ሰዎችና የሴቶች መብት ጉዳይ ተከራካሪዎች አስተያየት ስጡበት? በመሰረቱ እንዲህ ያለ ድርጊት የፈፀመ ሰው ሚኒስትር ሆኖ መቀጠል አለበት? መለስ ዜናዊስ ይህን ወንጀል ለመሸፋፈን መሞከሩ አያስጠይቀውም?

አርበኞችን ወደዳር ማስወጣትና የሥልጣን ወንበሮችን በባንዳዎች ማስያዝ አጼ ኃይለ ሥላሴ የጀመሩት ቢሆንም ለልጅ ልጅ የሚተላለፍ የአገር ውርደት መሆን የለበትም፤

የአፍሪካ አንድነት የተቋቋመው እ.ኤ.አ. በ1963ዓ.ም. ነው፤ በዚያን ጊዜ ኢትዮጵያ በመላው ዓለም ከፍ ያለና የተከበረ ስም ነበራት፤ በአፍሪካ ያለምንም ጥርጥር ቀዳሚዋ አገር ነበረች፤ ኢትዮጵያን ለዚህ ያበቃት ረጅም የነፃነት ታሪክዋ፣ የህዝቡ ጨዋነት፣ የመሪዎቹ፣ በተለይም የቀዳማዊ ኃይለ ሥላሴ ግርማና ሞገስ አንድ ላይ ሆነው ኢትዮጵያን የተከበረችና የተፈራች አገር አድርገዋት ነበር፡፡
ለአፍሪካ ኀብረት የተሰበሰቡት በዘመኑ የነበሩ ታላላቅ መሪዎች፣ አገሮቻቸውን ከቅኝ አገዛዝ ያወጡ ሰዎች ነበሩ፤ መሪዎቹ በየሰፈራቸው የጎረቤቶች መኀበር እያቋቋሙ ለትልቁ የአፍሪካ አንድነት እምብዛም ግድ አልነበራቸውም፤ ምናልባትም የአፍሪካ አንድነት ድርጅትን በማቋቋም እያንዳንዳቸው በየአገራቸው ያላቸው ሥልጣን የሚ¬¬¬-ቀነስባቸው መስሎአቸው የነበረ ይመስለኛል፤ አብዛኛዎቹ እናጥናው፣ እናብላላው በማለት የድርጅቱን ምሥረታ ለማስተላለፍ በፓም ይጥሩ ነበር፤ አጼ ኃይለ ሥላሴ ግን የድርጅቱ ሰነድ ሳይፈረም ማናችንም ከአዳራሹ አንወጣም ብለው ገትረው ያዙአቸው፡፡
የአጼ ኃይለ ሥላሴ ትልቅነትና የኢትዮጵያ የመንፈስ መሪነት በገሀድ ታየ፤ እንደናስርና እንደቤን ቤላ ያሉ አብዮተኞች ሳይቀሩ ከጃንሆይ ጋር ሲነጋገሩ ጎንበስ ብለውና እጆቻቸውን ወደኋላ አጣምረው ነበር፤ መቼም የዚህ ፊልም አንድ ቦታ ይኖራል ብዬ ተስፋ አለኝ፤ የዛሬ ወጣቶች ሁሉ ሊያዩት የሚገባ ነው፤ እምቢተኞቹንና አፈንጋጮቹን ሁሉ አንድ በአንድ እያነጋገሩ፣ እንደኒዬሬሪና አሚን ተጣልተው የማይነጋገሩትን እያስታረቁ ሰነዱ ሳይፈረም መውጣት የለም አሉ፤ እንደማስታውሰው ሰነዱ ከሌሊቱ በስምንትና በዘጠኝ መሀከል ተፈርሞ አለቀና ሲነጋ በየቤታችን ገባን፡፡
የአፍሪካ አንድነት በጋዳፊ (ነፍሱን ይማረውና) ውትወታ የአፍሪካ ኀብረት ተባለ፤ ስልቻ ቀልቀሎ፣ ቀልቀሎ ስልቻ ነው፤ ዓላማው የአፍሪካን ሕዝቦች የኑሮ ደረጃ ከፍ ለማድረግ፣ የአፍሪካ አገሮችን ሉዓላዊነትና ነጻነት ለመጠበቅና ከማናቸውም ዓይነት ቅኝ አገዛዝና ቄሣራዊ ተጽእኖ ለመከላከል ነበር፤ ነበር፤ ነበር፤ በአገሮች መሀከል የሚከሰቱ ችግሮችን ሁሉ በሰላማዊ መንገድ መፍትሔ እንዲገኝላቸው ማድረግ ነበር፤ ነበር፤ ነበር፡፡
እንደዚያ ዕለት በኢትዮጵያዊነቴ ኮርቼ አላውቅም፤ ስለዚህም የኢትዮጵያውያን የዩኒቨርስቲ መምህራን ማኀበር ስብሰባ ጠራሁና ያየሁትን ገልጬ ለአጼ ኃይለ ሥላሴ የምስጋና ደብዳቤ እንጻፍላቸው የሚል ሀሳብ አቀረብኩ፤ አንዳንድ ተቃውሞ ተነሥቶ ከተከራከርንበት በኋላ እንዲጻፍላቸው ተወሰነ፤ ዳብዳቤውን ጽፌ ለጃንሆይ እንዲሰጥልን ለዩኒቨርስቲው ፕሬዚደንት ለልጅ ካሣ ወልደማርያም አስረከብሁት፤ ከጥቂት ቀናት በኋላ ጠራኝና አንተው ወስደህ ብትሰጥ ይሻላል አለኝ፤ የምሄድበትን ቀንና ሰዓት ነገረኝ፤ ወስጄ በእጃቸው ሰጠኋቸው፤ እንዳነበቡት ወይም እንደተነበበላቸው ፍልቅልቅ ባለ ደስታቸው ይታይ ነበር፡፡
ዛሬ የአፍሪካ አንድነት (ኀብረት) በቻይና ቸርነት ፎቅ ተሠርቶለት ዓለም በቃኝ ገባ አሉ፤ የአፍሪካ መሪዎችም እዚያው ተሰበሰቡ፤ አቶ መለስም ለቻይና አስተዋጽኦ ዋጋ ለመክፈል ለማኦትሴ ቱንግ ተማሪ ሐውልት አስተከለ፤ ቀጥሎም የአፍሪካ መሪዎች በምን ምክንያት ወደ አውሮፓ ዓለም-አቀፍ ፍርድ ቤት ይሄዳሉ በማለት አቶ መለስ ተቆጥቶ በዓለም-በቃኝ ፎቅ ውስጥ የአፍሪካ ፍርድ ቤት ማቋቋም እንችላለን የሚል ሀሳብ አቀረበ ተባለ፤ ማን በማን ላይ እንዲፈርድ ይሆን? የአውሮፓ ዓለም-አቀፍ ፍርድ ቤት የተፈራው ምኑ ነው? ወይስ የዓለም-አቀፍ ትርጉም ችግር ሆኖ ነው? መቼም የአፍሪካ ፍርድ ቤት ዓለም-አቀፍ ደረጃ ላይ ይውጣ ማለት…ምን ማለት ይሆን? የተባበሩት መንግሥታትስ መቼ ነው ተለይቶ ‹‹አፍሪካዊ›› የሚሆነው?
ለማናቸውም በእግዚአብሔር መንግሥት ውስጥ ሆነው የሚመለከቱን የኢትዮጵያ አርበኞች ይቅር ይበሉን፤ ለኢትዮጵያም ከሌኒን ያወጣት አምላክ ያውቃል!

በረከትን በደንብ የሚያውቀው ያሬድ ጥበቡ ሙልጭ አድርጎ ነግሮታል፤ ያሬድ ከዚህ በፊትም ስለበረከት ጽፎ ነበር፤ አሁን ከጻፈው ጋር ሳስተያየው አንድ ግጥም ትዝ ይለኛል፤ አንዲት የቸገራት ሴትዮ ያንጎራጎረችው ይመስለኛል፡-

ወደድኩህ ወደድከኝ፤ ጠላሁህ፤ ጠላኸኝ፤
እንደሚጣራ ጠጅ እየጣልክ አታንሣኝ!

ያሬድ ስለበረከት በሚጽፈው ሁሉ እያነሣ የመጣልና እየጣለ የማንሣት ዝንባሌን ያሳያል፤ እስከዛሬ በናፍቆት የሚጠብቀውን ወዳጁን ሸፍጥንና የአእምሮ ሕመምን ሲያለብሰው ማንኛቸው መቼ እንደተለወጡ ለመረዳት ያስቸግራል፤ ለማናቸውም የዲክንስን መጽሐፍ ያሬድ እንደሚለው በረከት ከመጀመሪያው ገጽ በላይ አነበበም አላነበበ እንግሊዝኛው ትርጉም መሆኑን የተረዳሁት ከያሬድ ነው፤ ለምን ወደ እንግሊዝኛ እንደተሄደም አልገባኝም፡፡

በዚህ ዓመት ታላላቅ የአገር መሪዎች የሚያስተምሩን ነገር ባይኖራቸውም ‹‹የታሪክ››መጽሐፍት የሚሉትን አሳትመዋል፤ ኮሎኔል መንግሥቱ ኃይለማርያምና አቶ በረከት ስምዖን፤ ሁለቱ ሰዎች በብዙ ነገር የሚመሳሰሉ ቢመስሉም እውነትን በመናቅና በመጥላት አንድ ናቸው፤ ዛሬ እኔ ላነሣ የፈለግሁት ግን በአስተሳሰብ ግድፈት ላይ የሚያተኩር ነው፡፡

በ1997 የፖለቲካ ክርክር ላይ ከሕገ መንግሥቱ አንቀጾች ሠላሳ በመቶ የሚሆነው ስለሰብዓዊ መብቶች የሚናገር ስለሆነ ይህ ቀረው የሚባል አይደለም፤ ችግሩ በተግባር የምናየው ሕገ አራዊት መሆኑ ነው ብዬ የተናገርሁትን ጉልበተኛው በረከት ወዲያው ቀለብ አድርጎ ‹‹ሕገ መንግሥቱን ሕገ አራዊት ነው አለ፤›› ብሎ ወነጀለኝ፤ ለጉልበተኛው ሕገ ኀልዮትም ሆነ ሕገ መንፈስ ቅዱስ ገንዘቡ አይደሉም፤ ዛሬ ረዳቱ የሆነውም ጠበቃው የገዛ ጆሮውን ከድቶ በጉልበተኛው የተነገረውን እያስፋፋ በፍርድ ቤቱ አስተጋባ፤ ዳኞቹም ጠበቃውን ሰምተው ፈረዱ፤ ዛሬ እነሱ አንገታቸውን አጎንብሰው ይሄዳሉ፡፡

ዛሬም ያው አስተሳሰብ (አስተሳሰብ ካልነው) እንደተለመደው ቃላትን እየዘለዘለ ለውንጀላ ያቀርባል፤ አንዱዓለም አራጌ ‹‹የአምባ ገነን አገዛዝ ባለበት የጀግና ቤቱ እስር ቤት ነው፤›› አለ ይባላል፤ ጉልበተኛው እንደለመደው መጀመሪያ የተባለውን ቀንጭቦ ኪሱ ከተተና (!)አንዱ ዓለም ‹‹የጀግና ቤቱ እስር ቤት ነው›› አለ ብሎ ለውንጀላ ያመቻቸዋል፤ የአንዱ ዓለም መታሰር እሱ ራሱ ያለውን ያረጋግጣል? ወይስ አለ የተባለውን ያረጋግጣል? ወይስ ሁለቱንም ያረጋግጣል? በመሠረቱ አንዱ ዓለም ያለው ሙሉ ቃልና ጎዶሎው ልዩነት የላቸውም፤ የጉልበት አገዛዝ ባለበት የጀግና ቤቱ እስር ቤት ነው፤ የሚለውና ያለመነሻ የጀግና ቤቱ እስር ቤት ነው፤ የሚለው በአንድ ነገር ይመሳሰላሉ፤ ጀግናን የጥቃት ኢላማ በማድረግ ይስማማሉ፤ ከዚያም አልፎ ጀግንነትን መጠቃት አድርገው የሚያቀርቡት ይመሳሰላሉ፤ የተዛባ አስተሳሰብ!

ቀጥዬ የምጠቅሰው ምሳሌ ከላይ ከተጠቀሱት የባሰ የአስተሳሰብ ግድፈትን የሚያመለክት ነው፤ አቶ መለስ ‹‹የተሃድሶ እንቅስቃሴያችንን በከፍተኛ ፍጥነት ከሚወርድና በየደቂቃው ፍጥነት እየጨመረ ከሚጓዝ ናዳ አምልጦ ወደ ጠንካራ ከለላ ለመግባት ከሚሮጥ ሰው ጋር ማመሳሰል ይቻላል፡፡›› ሲል ለስራ አስፈፃሚ ኮሚቴው ባቀረበው ሪፖርት ውስጥ ተናግሮአል፤ በ1997 ምርጫ አቶ መለስ ብዙ አጃቢዎቹ (አቶ በረከትን ጨምሮ) ስለዌደቁበት የናዳውን ኃይል በትክክል ገምቶ የተናገረ ይመስለኛል፤ መለስ የተናገረው ወደበረከት ስምዖን ጆሮ ሲደርስ ግን ሌላ ሆኖ ነበር፤- ናዳን የገታ አገራዊ ሩጫ! መለስ ወደፊት ሂድ! ሲል በረከት ስምዖን ቀኝ-ኋላ ዙር! ይላል፤ ወደፊት አልሮጥም የማለት መብት አለው፤ ጥያቄው ይህ አይደለም፤ የአስተሳሰብ ግድፈቱ ወደፊት ሂድ ማለትና ቀኝ-ኋላ ዙር ማለትን አንድ ማድርጉ ላይ ነው፤ በወያኔ/ኢህአዴግ ዘመን የመጣ የአፈፃፀም ጉድለት የሚባለው ነገር ምንጩ እንዲህ ያለ የግንዛቤ መዛባት መሆኑ ነው፡፡

ለምራቂ አንድ ሌላ ግድፈት ላቅርብ፤ የመጽሐፉ ዋና ርዕስ ‹‹የሁለት ምርጫዎች ወግ›› ነው፤ ምን ማለት ነው? ወግ የሚለው ቃል ሁለት ትርጉም አለው፤ አንዱ ትርጉም ወሬ ነው፤ ሁለተኛው ትርጉም ሥርዓት ማለት ነው፤ ከሃምሳ ዓመታት በፊት በዛሬይቱ ኢትዮጵያ ላይ በራስ ቢትወደድ እንዳልካቸው የተደረሰ ጨዋታ በቀዳማዊ ኃይለ ሥላሴ ቲያትር ታይቶ ነበር፤ አቶ አሐዱ ሳቡሬ ሲተቹ ድራማ ብለውት ነበር፤ እኔ ግን ጨዋታ ነው ብዬ ‹‹አልሞትኩም ብዬ አልዋሽም›› ለዚያ ለሞተ ጨዋታ ተስማሚ ስም ነው በማለት ጽፌ ነበር፤ እንዲሁም የሁለት ምርጫዎች ወግ በሁለቱም የወግ ትርጉሞች ተስማሚ ስም የተሰጠው ተረት ነው፤ እውነቱ ጸሐፊው በዚያ ምርጫ መውደቁ ነው፤ እውነቱ ጸሐፊው እንደገና በልዩ ዝግጅት ተመረጠ መባሉ ነው፤ ታሪክን፣ ያውም የቅርብ ታሪክን ወደተረት ለመለወጥ ለጉልበተኛም ቢሆን አስቸጋሪ ነው፤ ተዋንያኑ ሁሉ ገና በሕይወት አሉ፤ ጸሐፊው ልማድ ሆኖበት አላነበባቸውም እንጂ አንዳንዶቹም ስለምርጫው ከወግ ባለፈ ጽፈዋል፡፡

ስለ2002 ምርጫ በቅርቡ እንኳን በአሐዝ የተደገፈ ጥናት ወጥቷል፤ አንደኛ ከአጠቃላይ የየክልሉ ሕዝብ ቁጥር ውስጥ የመረጡትን ስናይ ምርጫው ወግ ብቻ እንደነበረ ገሀድ ይሆናል፤ ለምሳሌ ከየክልሉ የመረጡት በኦሮሚያ 31 ከመቶ፣ በአማራ 33 ከመቶ፣ በደቡብ 27 ከመቶ፣ በትግራይ 39 ከመቶ፣ በአዲስ አበባ 19 ከመቶ፣በአፋር 66 በመቶ፣ ከዚያ ደግሞ በድሬደዋ 57 ከመቶ ሲሆኑ በሐረርና በኦጋዴን ደግሞ ለወግም የማይመች በመሆኑ አልተገለጸም፤ ናዳው የምርጫውን ወግ እንኳን እንደደፈጠጠ በተለይ የአፋርና የድሬዳዋ የመራጮች አሐዝ ምስክር
ነው፤ እድሜያቸው የማይፈቅድላቸው ሁሉ ካልመረጡ በቀር፤ ወይም በእነዚህ ክልሎች አብዛኛው ሕዝብ በልዩ ተአምር እድሜው ከ18 ዓመት በላይ ካልሆነ በቀር ከላይ የተገለጸውን ያህል መራጭ ሊያገኙ አይችሉም፤ እንዲሁም በመረጡት ወንዶችና ሴቶች መሀከል በየክልሉ የሚታየው ድርሻ ወንድና ሴቱ እኩል እንዲሆን ተደርጎ የተደለደለ መሆኑ ይታያል፤ ይህንን ሁሉ የዘነጋ ከታሪክ ይልቅ ወደተረት ያዘነበለ ጨዋታ ነው፤ ተረቱ የሚጣፍጠው ከተገኘ!

ሁለተኛ አቶ ኡስማን አሊ የሚባል ሰው 368,211 ድምጽ፣ አቶ ሽመልስ ከማል ብርሃን የሚባል ደግሞ 19,647 ድምጽ ለወጉ አግኝተው ተመርጠዋል፤ ከተመራጮቹ 64 በመቶ ያህሉ ያገኙት ድምጽ ከ50,000 በታች ነው፤ መለስ ዜናዊ ያገኘው 40,302 ነው፤ በትግራይ ወይዘሮ አልማዝ የሚባሉ 87,185 ድምጽ ማግኘታቸው ቱባ ቱባ ባለስልጣኖቹ ካገኙት ጋር ሲወዳደር ሰማይ ያደርሳቸዋል ስለ2002 ምርጫ በአገቱኒ ውስጥ ዝርዝር መረጃ ቀርቦአል፡፡

መጽሐፍ ያውም የታሪክ መጽሐፍ ለመጻፍ ለእውነት ክብር መስጠትና ለእውነት ተገዢ መሆን ያስፈልጋል፤ አለዚያ ጉልበትና የአቶ አላሙዲንን ገንዘብ ማጥፋት ነው፡፡

Ethiopia Sentences 3 Journalists to Long Prison Terms

An Ethiopian court on Thursday sentenced three journalists and two opposition political activists to long prison sentences for terrorism-related offenses.

Exiled internet blogger Elias Kifle was sentenced in absentia to life in prison. Kifle is editor of the U.S.-based Ethiopian Review website, which regularly features scathing criticisms of Prime Minister Meles Zenawi‘s government.

A three-judge federal panel last week convicted Kifle, two local newspaper journalists and two political activists of violating Ethiopia‘s anti-terrorism law. The charges included conspiring with the Ginbot Seven opposition political party, which Ethiopia considers a terrorist organization.

The two local journalists – Reeyot Alemu and Woubshet Taye – received 14-year sentences. Reeyot was a columnist for Fiteh, Ethiopia’s only remaining independent newspaper devoted to politics. Woubshet was deputy editor of the Awramba Times paper. The paper stopped publishing and editor Dawit Kebede fled into exile after Woubshet’s arrest.

Reeyot’s attorney, Molla Zegeye, says he is disappointed by the harshness of the sentence against his client, given that no terrorist acts were committed.

“I didn’t expect this sentence. I didn’t,” he said. “It was an attempt. She didn’t commit the terrorist crime. She didn’t as far as I’m concerned. She’s a journalist, a professional journalist. Well, it shouldn’t be like this.”

At the trial, prosecutors presented emails and other documents as evidence that Woubshet and Reeyot were conspiring to organize acts of terrorism.

The Committee to Protect Journalists issued a statement Thursday saying that the convictions were based on their writings about political dissent. The organization says that at least 10 journalists are in Ethiopian jails, including two Swedes who recently were sentenced to 11 years in prison on terrorism-related charges. The Swedes were arrested last June in the restive Ogaden region in the company of armed members of an outlawed rebel group.

After the conviction, the Swedish government issued a statement saying that it considers the pair legitimate journalists, and called for their prompt release. An Ethiopian spokesman said the government has no remorse about the convictions.

Another Ethiopian blogger, Eskinder Nega, is facing similar terrorism charges and could face the death penalty, if convicted. He is among 24 defendants, including several exiled journalists and two prominent opposition politicians who are also accused of involvement with the outlawed Ginbot Seven group.

Government spokesmen repeatedly have rejected charges that Ethiopia restricts press freedom. Government officials say the convicted journalists used their profession as a cover for terrorist activities.

Léon Chefneux and Ethiopia

Léon Chefneux was a French trader, born in Romania, who entered Ethiopia as early as 1877 – a full decade before the founding of Addis Ababa. He was thus in Ethiopia quite early in Menilek’s reign. It was Chefneux who helped Menilek in printing the first Ethiopian postage stamps, and in the minting the first Ethiopiancoined money, both in Paris in 1894, as well in the acquisition of the first Ethiopian government printing press.
He is, however, best remembered for collaborating with the Swiss craftsman-cum-diplomat Alfred Ilg in building the famous Djibouti-Addis Ababa railway – an event on any showing of immense historical importance
Menilek was deeply grateful to Chefneux for his help in the modernization of Ethiopia.

The Watch was a gift to Leon Chefneux in recognition of his contribution to the implementation of Ethiopia’s first railway line, as inscribed on the inside of the case ‘Don de Sa Majeste Menelik II Empereur d’Ethiopie’.
The Ethiopian king accordingly presented him a hand-Watch, reportedly in 1893, with a fine and
excellently crafted 18K gold with Amharic characters. Menilek, we may add,
always displayed an inordinate interest in clocks and watches of all kinds.
The Watch was particularly in recognition of his contribution to the implementation of Ethiopia’s first railway line, as inscribed on the inside of the case ‘Don de Sa Majeste Menelik II Empereur d’Ethiopie’. / Gift of His Majesty Emperor Menelik II of Ethiopia/
which remained in the family for over a century, was finally auctioned in Geneva,
Switzerland, on 22 November 2009, and sold for the Euro equivalent of 51,687 US dollars
Chefneux left Ethiopia in 1922 and returned to France, following the official announcement and death of His Majesty Emperor Menilk II.
